A perfect stay - an absolutely beautiful site right next to (as in actual strolling distance) interesting attractions and a cool craft brewery. Loved having a dip in the stream and the owner was super friendly and helpful. The campsite was v relaxed and clean. I was worried about the river as we have toddlers but we stayed in Railway meadow and it was really safe for them there.

We have just got back from a lovely weekend at Ouse Meadow! The campsite it kept really clean at all times and has loads of space. Neil came round to make sure we were ok and gave us loads of recommendations for things to do in the local area, he also brought us round free ice poles on Saturday as it was a lovely hot day. Highly recommend

Vikki B Sept 2023

Our 5th year at Ouse and we adore this site for its relaxed atmosphere, simplicity and amazing position within nature. The kids absolutely love running wild and how remote it feels. We love to dip in the stream by the rope bridge, enjoy pizza from the van. Hear the owls hooting from the oak trees as we go to sleep. Clean toilets, amazing warm outdoor showers, simple but wonderfully done. See you again next year !

Hannah H August 2023

Beautiful site with rope swings, tire swings, hammocks and games for the kids (and big kids).Nice clean and well topped up Toilet and washing up facilities provided. Showers are basic but lovley and refreshing in the wild as expected. Lovley local tap room a 5 minute walk away is well worth a visit. My kids and family had a really lovley long weekend at this site and hope to visit again next year. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to go back to basics camping with little luxuries.

My wife and I have just returned from an excellent long weekend at Ouse Meadow. This site has two family fields and one private adults-only field, all fairly well separated and we pitched in the private area. There are no EHUs, which is exactly how we like it as we prefer the rural-style campsites. Neil's approach is friendly and welcoming and put a lot of effort into maintaining the whole site as the loos and the showers are spotless and well stocked with requisites, while the site itself is meticulously kept free of litter and firepit/barbecue ash. In our experience this high standard of tidiness tends to discourage those who leave litter etc. in the first place. Firepits and logs can be hired/bought on-site and Neil drives round every evening to provide them We chose a brilliant pitch right alongside the River Ouse offering lots of wildlife encounters such as kingfisher, fox, hedgehog, kestrel, buzzard, woodpeckers and a wide variety of other birdlife and the pitch itself offered more than ample space for our large tent whilst neighbours retained a respectful distance from one-another. The wider area offers loads of fun options with the vintage Bluebell Railway right opposite the campsite entrance and plenty of pubs locally. If you like craft beer the local area is as good as it gets with 360 Brewing also opposite the site and Abyss and Beak both based in Lewes about 20 mins drive away. There's also a basic farm shop/cafe 10 minutes away and plenty of shops in Lewes itself. We were absolutely delighted with our stay and will very definitely be coming back in the future!

My favourite campsite. Its quiet, with lots of space, and there are nature trails, wooden bridges, and woodland areas for kids to play. Open air showers in both main fields also add to the overall natural feel of the place. We have been a few times, and can't wait to go back.

Liz R August 2023

Of all the many campsites we've visited, this is our favourite. A stunningly beautiful and spacious setting. If you're wanting to have days out, there's lots to do just a stone's throw away. The large showers are gorgeous under the canopies of trees and always clean and hot, we've visited five times. Neil and his wife are great hosts and have it sorted in a relaxed manner, it's a real gem!

Jo J August 2023

We’ve been here a couple of time now, both on an adults-only trip, and this time as a trip with small children. A lovely campsite with great pitches and fields and lovely surrounding views. The facilities are fairly basic but good - toilets, showers etc all nice and new. And the team couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. Even the rainy weather didn’t upset our stay. We’ll be back!

Joel F Septemeber 2023

A place of such tranquillity and good energy that I am reluctant to write a review in case too many people get to know about it!!! I can't wait to book in again

Eleanor S June 2023

This is a great campsite, we have been many times over the last few years with different groups and everyone has loved it. It is a relaxed, beautiful campsite with fabulous outdoor showers, no fixed pitches, fires allowed and a wooded area with rope swings and hammocks as well as table tennis, bar football and badminton nets. Looking forward to our next visit in a few weeks.

Katy B June 2023

Spacious campsite with excellent showers and clean toilets. The site is clean and well looked after. There is a pub within walking distance through a public footpath and a quiet country lane, couldn’t ask for more! The staff do a great job of welcoming you and they come around in the evenings to offer firewood. They also came around the campsite during the heat of the day to offer a free ice pop! We will certainly be returning in the future

Matthew S June 2023

Lovely site with good clean toilets and beautiful open air showers. The children loved the tree swings and river.

Andrew M June 2023

My wife and I recently camped at Ouse Meadow with our 3 young children. We previously camped there in 2020. We hope to visit annually. It really is a great campsite. Good facilities and the owner works tirelessly to ensure all the facilities are in good order and nothing is too much trouble. Looking forward to returning in 2024.

Harriet G June 2023

Great site, great location and lovely experience for a short weekend stay away from home. Perfect facilities in a wild camping experience and Neil really helpful and friendly. Enjoyed walking across the road to the 360 Brewery for a pint Saturday afternoon. Had a super relaxing weekend, thank you

Isobel M June 2023

Had another great stay at Ouse Meadow. Beautiful sunsets, great walks and very near the 360 tap room. Plenty of room and reasonably flat camping on the meadow. Kids had a great time running wild in the woods and using the rope swings. Facilities clean and checked regularly

Helen W June 2023

My family and I had another fabulous stay at Ouse Meadow, thanks again Neil! This site has fantastic facilities, it's well managed and so so peaceful. We stay in the Railway meadow and love the ping pong table, tug of war, badminton supplies and open air showers! Would highly recommend this site ❤️

Amanda S June 2023

Lovely place to stay. Child friendly, lots of space and fun things to do. Neil very kind and helpful. We will be back. Thank you.

Caroline D June 2023

Beautiful campsite with lovely hosts. The facilities are super clean, the showers are just incredible amongst the copse of trees. Kids had an absolute blast. Our third visit and most definitely won't be our last.

Claire C June 2023

This was our third visit in four years. It is a basic but wonderful campsite. There are three big fields, including an adults only field. Open fires are allowed in firepits. Bring your own or rent from the site. Logs and kindling are available to purchase and dropped to your tent. Neil and Kate are friendly and helpful and keep the site, showers and toilet blocks spotless. There are pubs and a shop within walking distance (across fields and country lane) and a brewery a stones throw away! A great place to get away from it all and just relax

Paul K June 2023

Lovely laid back campsite with 3 fields to choose from. 2 next to the river and the big Railway meadow. Really chilled owners. Camp where you like, have a fire, bring the dog, swing on the rope swings, have a paddle...all the stuff you want really! Even a Pizza van on Saturday. Basic but clean facilities, wash up at your camp. Short walks to Bluebelle railway, 360 brewery and Sheffield park national trust. Will defo come again.

Laura S June 2023

Loved it and will be back. Facilities clean. Neil and Simon drive around to make sure everyone is OK. I went with a YogaCamp and we were at the far end of the site where we all felt safe and well cared for.

Nomad733 June 2023

Great site, great location and lovely experience for a short weekend stay away from home. Perfect facilities in a wild camping experience and Neil really helpful and friendly. Enjoyed walking across the road to the 360 Brewery for a pint Saturday afternoon. Had a super relaxing weekend, thank you

Imanda June 2023

We love this campsite. Setting is beautiful. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Friendly welcoming staff. Showers are always lovely and hot. Lots of walks straight from your pitch. Pizza van on sat night. Our kids love playing in the woods and having table tennis competitions. The picturesque river runs along the length of the camp site and is accessible via a 6 ft bank which is quite steep. A rope is provided to help you get down safely. Was a lovely refreshing break from the heat of the day. Will come back again next year for sure. Thanks

Karl T June 2023

Lovely peaceful, family friendly campsite. We went with a big group of families with kids aged 6-12. We had oodles of space in one of the big meadows. Facilities nice and clean, campfires allowed, good pizza from the van on Saturday night, big skies and a river to splash around in. Highly recommend!

Caroline J Aug 2022

Stayed during a wet weekend but the site was great - friendly welcome, pizza van on Saturday night (with vegan options), loved the riverside pitch in Little Brooks field (adults only camping meadow). Open topped showers in the trees were amazing. Plenty of water taps. Nice walks nearby (to various pubs!)

Becky R Aug 2022

Lovely campsite, relaxed and family friendly. Basic but adequate facilities. Limited entertainment for kids other than a nice walk, secret bridge, table tennis, badminton nets and table football. Loads of space for them to run around and dealt quite safe for them. River with a steep bank down one side which was beautiful. Will certainly return, and in greater numbers...

Richard H Aug 2022

Great campsite, big fields with plenty of space. Clean toilets and good showers. Pizzas on a Saturday night were excellent! We ordered in advance and they were ready bang on time. Plenty of walks around from the site and can recommend the 360 Brewing company up the road for some good beers and food, it was a fantastic afternoon there. Have been to this campsite twice now and will be back again.

Andrew D Aug 2022

We camp as two families a few times a year. Having visited various types of site (large sites with a club house, with a swimming pool, or next to the sea, with shops and games rooms or with a restaurant) we were a little anxious that our 13 & 14 year old daughters might be bored just being in a field with nothing else - how wrong were we - Ouse meadow has been dubbed by us “best ever”! This camp site is literally a field next to a stream with fab toilets,  open air showers and one very proactive, very pleasant and very hospitality owner. Camping pitches are predominantly along the edge of the stream, no set pitches which we love - so it’s find the spot you would like and that is yours. Cars are not allowed next to the tents, you’re asked to park on the other side of the field in a designated area - which got a thumbs up from us. Very large open area in the middle with a couple of badminton nets and a couple of swing balls for anyone to use. Also couple of rope swings hung on trees for children to play on. Our girls enjoyed paddling in the stream, that even has mud (bath?!!) steps cut out for easy access. . One word of warning, there are no rubbish/recycling facility at all on this campsite so be prepared to take your rubbish home or travel to recycling centre. For us this was a small price to pay for an uncluttered, peaceful and friendly site, but are sure some might complain. We cannot praise the owner enough, it appears that he does everything himself, meeting&greeting, site maintenance, loo cleaning etc. He was ever present, walking the field offering frozen water bottles and ice lollies on a particularly hot weekend. Our only concern is that the owner may decide to expand/allow more campers on the site - PLEASE, PLEASE don’t - this site is wonderful and beautiful exactly as it is.

We loved staying in the Railway Meadow at Ouse Meadow Campsite. Plenty of space for the kids to run around in beautiful countryside. There are walks straight from the campsite to Sheffield Park parkland. We also visited Bluebell railway and played crazy golf at Heaven farm. Neil (staff) was brilliant, really helpful, approachable and friendly. Toilets cleaned regularly and the outside showers were a quirky experience! Thank you.

Laura S  Aug 2022

We had a great time at Ouse Meadow! It felt like real camping, relaxed & not over crowded. It was great being able to have our own fire, the kids loved the rope swings in the trees & the hammocks. The area was peaceful & interesting with the river & small wooded area. We will definitely be back & don't want to recommend it as we would like it to remain quiet & exclusive retro camping not glamping!!

Karen W

Best campsite in Sussex. Beautiful setting overlooking the river Ouse. Useful to have an adults only field plus two fields for families. Always a good experience camping here.

Layla B July 2022

3rd (or 4th 🤔) visit here. I just love it. It's basic but with lovely little touches. Toilet block and shower, never much of a que (if at all) kept clean and stocked. Washing up station. Things dotted around for the kids. We walked the 10minutes to the 360 brewery and enjoyed delicious beer and some thai food. The people who manage the site are still really friendly and welcoming. Think it's probably my favourite campsite in Sussex so far.

Kia M June 2022

We have been coming here for years now and it’s always been really pleasant. Lovely people running the place, the toilets are always clean and there are fire pits available. Handing out ice pops on the hot days is always a lovely touch!

Josh S June 2022

We had a relaxing couple of days, enjoying the beautiful scenery and peaceful Campsite. The facilities are spotless, Neil is helpful and friendly, we will definitely be coming back! Our kind of site.. Unspoilt with wonderful walks.

Joanna J June 2022

Wonderful getaway campsite. Beautiful setting by the river and adjoins Sheffield park. Really lovely, will be back soon!

We had such a great time and your showers are without doubt the best I've ever used!! Thanks so much.

Kirsty L. Aug 2021

Just Fantastic. We loved your site. One of the nicest we have been to ever. Plenty of space, clean loos, lovely walks!

Mel Y. July 2021

Just to say we all had the best time here at Ouse , kids and everyone swimming in river , such a great spot Neil we all loved coming back as had been here before x

Emma S. July 2021

We just wanted to thank you for hospitality and to tell you how much we enjoyed our camp with you this weekend.

The site look really good and the facilities were immaculate throughout the weekend,.

It was very obvious that a lot of thought and hard work has gone into ensuring the camping season will be as safe and as enjoyable as possible.

Matt. S July 2021

August bank holiday camp for 2 nights, lovely little site with basic facilities but all you need in a charming environment.
Clean and fragrant toilets,  showers - open to the elements but also strangely liberating!
Washing up facilities on x2 trellis tables. Warm welcome from they chaps on the front gate and spaciously planned pitches with cars collectively, parked away from the tents. The nearby stream enabled the odd welcoming, duck visit and the general surrounds were pleasingly picturesque. We enjoyed a half an hour stroll through the footpaths and pines of Fletching Common into Newick were there is a local store for supplies and the opportunity to sample the delights of The Bull, The Royal Oak and The Crown Inn. Hope to return to this site for further adventures!

L. Chop Aug 2020

Just arrived home from a weekend on this lovely campsite. We went with a big group of friends. Despite some pretty awful weather we all had a wonderful time. The site is very simple but has everything we needed. Nice, clean, well stocked toilets (loo roll, hand soap). A washing up station with bowls, washing up liquid and sponges. There were loads of swings dotted around in the trees, 2 badminton nets with lots of bats and shuttle cocks, a couple of swing ball sets, table tennis....and I'm sure more hidden gems that we didn't discover. We went on a lovely walk to a pub. It's right opposite the blue bell railway and next to Sheffield park gardens.....the landscape is lush!
It was very reasonably priced and the manager (his name may have been neil) was really friendly. He was around when you needed him but without feeling like he was checking up on you.....he seemed to genuinely care about our stay. I'm already planning my next trip back with a different group

Kia M 2019

Beautiful location, good facilities, next to the old steam railway and surrounded by fields plenty to explore so perfect for children, wonderful hosts who cannot do enough to help. Definitely recommend!

Lily M Aug 2019

Freedom to choose a pitch yourself and to be able to have a fire :) Toilets and site kept very clean.

Oliver B 31/8/19

Lovely site in terms of wild camping, rope swings, nice clean loos. Really liked the fact that it was chilled. Kids felt safe and could climb trees and use the swing balls and badminton nets round the site. So close to the Bluebell Railway, which we really liked going on too - and a nice microbrewery over the way. Firepits and logs a nice touch. Loved the fact that cars were meant to be driven off site after unloading , which added to wild camping feel. Over all will be back!

Rose B 30/8/19

We loved that we could pitch up anywhere and that Neil gave us advice on the best spots to set up, i.e. out of the sun in the morning. It was great that there were quite a few things for our kids to do, like play on the swings; table tennis; badminton and just were allowed to run around with the other kids. And we loved that we were able to light a fire, and that Neil delivered us wood if we needed it (at a great price!). It was a really good site, actually. Decent toilets, running water and a washing up area were also appreciated.

Nighean H 30/8/19

Just wanted to say a big thank you for making us all feel so welcome at your campsite this weekend. You really went the extra mile to make our stay thoroughly enjoyable and it is such a beautiful campsite. We all had an fantastic time and having stayed at several campsites in the area the past few years I reckon it's my families favourite!
Many thanks
Katherine 10/6/19

What a lovely campsite and very well looked after.

We really enjoyed our stay.  Hope to return

Julie 10/6/19

I just wanted to say how much we enjoyed staying on your campsite on Thursday and Friday night. We will definitely by back.

Helen 08/06/19

Dear Neil, thank you for letting us stay at your lovely, lovely site. We had the most fantastic weekend, loved the site and the way you run it. Everything was just perfect.

Jane R, 1/7/18

We loved the relaxed atmosphere of the campsite, thanks for providing badminton etc and the hammock and rope swings were great for the kids. A really family friendly site. Also appreciated the regular cleaning of loos they were always in good order as was the rest of the site. We also thought that the stuff you were selling was fairly priced. Thanks and good luck with the rest of the month.

Elaine T

We had a great time, the boys loved every minute of it.

Chrissie H

We loved our 4 night stay , a beautiful unspoilt campsite which is what we were looking for - no cars and noise all night!

The location is perfect and the woodland and river walk to Newick is one to fit into your stay . We can't wait to go back .
Julie R

Great site, very relaxing with amazing spacious pitches.

Ben H

Everything about Ouse meadow camping was great from the minute I pulled up in the car , the 8 year old was out exploring the little woodland area and playing on rope swings and hammocks tire swings , badminton and swingball.
There were fire pits and Neil the site manager chops logs and kindling for all your requirements. ( Really nice guy and there to help.) Bluebell railway was great , and the local woodland was astounding. All in all a great couple of days had by us both.

It's lovely seeing and hearing the steam trains from the Bluebell Railway over the road. This is a perfect spot for exploring the countryside and south coast! Would highly recommend. Thank you x

lovely spacious pitches, right next door to Bluebell Railway and Sheffield park Gardens. Swingball, badminton net and rackets, rope swings and hammocks for kids (and adults lol) Neil was great, very friendly, cars are parked in field next door so very quiet and you don`t have worry about the kids getting run over. Massive field next to site for rounders and letting dogs off the leads. can't wait to go back.

We had a really enjoyable three-night stay at Ouse Meadow and were sorry to leave. It was great to be able to choose our own pitch and we generally appreciated the atmosphere of freedom combined with Neil's organised and friendly attitude.

Jan T, Portchester

Size of pitch was great, we were right next to a tree swing so having a young child meant she had people to play with. She loved the tree swings surrounding the campsite and we were constantly on one swing or another. A nice brook running through the grounds meant kids had freedom to explore and were playing in a shaded area which was nice as it was pretty hot during our stay. Loved the location as it was close to nature play walk with a huge tree swing that we all loved, a lovely play trail for adults and kids, You could visit this as often as you liked.

T Rice

Friendly and helpful, toilets were kept very clean, kids loved playing on rope swings etc with other children.

S Mo

Really lovely site,  we all loved the way the site is set up and how easygoing it was to be there.
Thanks, we'll be back!

Kath B

I wanted to drop you a quick note to say how much we enjoyed the site. The toilets were always clean and the outdoor shower was great! Clean and hot water!  It was so well located and it was great to have that big space all to ourselves.  Thank you so much for having us and running such a lovely place.

What a lovely find !!! Had a last minute plan to camp for the night and The Ouse Meadow Campsite was yje the one we chose. Lovely area .. peaceful, lots to do for the children and Neil made us feel more than welcome.. Will be returning for sure.

Mark

This is a little gem of a campsite, tucked away right next to the Bluebell Railway. It is really back to basic camping no electric hook-ups here. there are toilets kept really clean, and outside showers, hot and again kept clean. The site is full of rope swings and other games for children to enjoy their stay, or if you don't want kids around your tent then it is big enough to enjoy your stay without them interfering with you. Plenty of lovely walks around and places to go and visit. There is not any shop on site or within walking distance so you do need to go prepared or have to get in your car if you forget anything. The best bit is that you can have open fires and at a reasonable cost the site will supply logs, kindling and fire lighters. Neil the owner/manager of the site could not be more helpful, he even helped me put my tent up as I unexpectedly went alone and the tent is quite big, so a BIG thank you to him. Each day he made a point of asking if everything was ok and apart from it being a little cold which he has no control it was. Dogs are allowed on site and do NOT have to be kept on a leash like every other site I have taken dogs to so long as they are kept under control and you clean up after them the dogs actually get to enjoy camping as well which is a big plus. I don't want to write anymore as I think too many people might go and check this site out and I would like to keep it for myself. Thank you Ouse Meadow for making my granddaughters first camping experience one that she will not forget in a hurry.
